  • RMAN provides very simpler way to create duplicate database, which is very helpful in standby database creation.
  • RMAN provides encrypted backup ability, which can’t be performed by any other backup strategy.

  • Through RMAN, we can validate (check any corruption) the backup that whether it can be restored or not and can be recoverable or not.
  • RMAN provides incremental backup strategy.
  • RMAN can automatically detect corrupted data blocks during backup
  • RMAN provides command to recover corrupted data blocks instead of recovering whole backup.
  • In 11g we can duplicate a database without taking backups by active duplication strategy.
  • RMAN can automatically delete all unnecessary (obsolete and expired) backups of data files and archived log files from disk.
  • RMAN has powerful Data Recovery Advisor feature, which enables you to easily diagnose and repair data failures and corruption.
